SWOHSHL Tournament Setup
2009--2010 Season
1st Round:
- 1N vs. 4S
- 1S vs. 4N
- 2N vs. 3S
- 2S vs. 3N
- 1 vs. 4 seeds play Thursday
- 2 vs. 3 seeds play Friday
2nd Round:
- reseed teams so that the best seed in each division plays the worst seed in the other division (in this scenario, all games should be a North team vs. a South team)
- if one division has three winners, then the best seed in that division plays the worst seed among all teams remaining- *all 2nd round games play on Saturday
Championship Round: -
two remaining teams play on Sunday
Tournament Rules:
For each game the team with the best seed is the Home team. If two teams have equal seeds, then the following procedure will be used to decide Home team:
1.) Head to Head
2.) Record vs. your division
3.) Record vs. the overall league
4.) Goal differential
5.) Least penalty minutes
Procedure for any tournament game resulting in a tie after 3 periods of regulation play:
1.) 5 minute 5v5 sudden death overtime
2.) 5 person (per team) shootout (home team decides which team goes first; no player can be used twice until all eligible players on a team have gone once; if score remains tied after 5 players have gone from each team, then a single elimination shootout begins; players in the penalty box or disqualified from game cannot participate in shootout)
In deciding seeds for the tournament, if a tie in regular season record between two or more teams exists, then the following procedure will be used to decide tie breaker:
1.) Head to Head
2.) Record vs. your division
3.) Record vs. the overall league
4.) Goal differential
5.) Least penalty minutes
Champions:
North Division Champion: determined by the best record in the North
South Division Champion: determined by the best record in the South
League Champion: determined by the winner of the SWOHSHL Tournament

N1 will stay in the 8:00 Sat.
bracket no matter what. Their Round 2 opponent will move to this bracket.
S1 will stay in the 10:00 pm
Sat. bracket no matter what. Their Round
2 opponent will move to this bracket.
If
all of the worst seeds win, then both 4 seeds will move to the
cross-division 3 seeds' brackets.
